Tom Hanks urged Jim Carrey and Robert De Niro to give Broadway a try when the Hollywood actors came backstage following a preview of Hanks’ play “Lucky Guy.” A Broadhurst Theatre spy reports the “Forrest Gump” star told them “how much fun it is to be onstage, and that they should try it.” De Niro’s already signed to direct a musical version of Chazz Palminteri’s “A Bronx Tale.” Also at the Nora Ephron show was Glenn Close — celebrating her birthday and given cupcakes by producer Colin Callender — as well as Mike Nichols, Diane Sawyer, Tom Hooper and Sir Ian McKellen.
