Katy Perry’s “Roar” really is louder than a lion.

The pop star’s latest single is poised to have the biggest sales week of any song this year, according to a Billboard report.

Released last Monday, the track is expected to sell between 525,000 and 550,000 digital downloads during its debut week. The song was initially projected to sell 400,000 units.

Whatever the total ends up being, it’ll be the strongest song sales week of the 28-year-old’s career, eclipsing her previous best — the week following Christmas 2010, when “Fireworks” sold 509,000 copies.

“Roar” is the first single off of Perry’s fourth studio album, “Prism,” which is due out Oct. 22.

The album is the follow up to 2010 megahit, “Teenage Dream.” That record, which received a deluxe reissue last year, has been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Perry’s triumphant return to the charts is even more impressive considering the song faced fierce competition from Lady Gaga’s latest song, “Applause.” Released the next day, the latest track from Gaga, 27, was also expected to sell 400,000 units but will likely top out between 200,000 and 225,000.

Like Perry, “Mother Monster’s” single is the first from her upcoming album, “ARTPOP,” which is due out weeks after “Prism,” on November 11.

Final numbers from Nielsen SoundScan won’t be available until Wednesday, but if estimates hold true, it’ll be the first time since last October that two songs have sold over 200,000 copies.
