Dennis Hopper, who has been painting and taking photographs for 40 years, is finally getting the recognition he deserves in his hometown. The first exhibition under new director Jeffrey Deitch at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles will be a retrospective of Hopper’s work, going back to the 1960s. Hopper, who is battling cancer as well as his estranged wife Victoria Duffy,is said to be working daily at his compound in Venice, Calif., helping curate the show, which will open this summer.
