‘Anchorman’ Ferrell co-hosts news show

“Stay classy North Dakota” — Will Ferrell anchored a Bismarck newscast on Saturday night as “Anchorman” Ron Burgundy.

Viewers were treated to some real class Saturday night when Burgundy, in full “Anchorman” regalia, popped up on a news broadcast on KXMB Bismarck with local anchor Amber Schatz who could barely keep a straight face.

Schatz had an awkward exchange with Burgundy when he commented on how “lovely” she looked. When Schatz told him she wasn’t married, Ferrell replied, “Well I am, so don’t get any ideas.”

He told the weather man, “You used to be a lot heavier,” and cracked jokes after the sports segment, “I’ve never seen fighting in a hockey match before. That was fascinating.”

Burgundy was supposed to end the broadcast with his signature “stay classy” catchphrase, but he missed his cue. Instead, Ferrell said, “What? Am I supposed to read that?”

Ferrell is promoting “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues,” released on December 18 in the US. We revealed last week it is also hoped he will film a video with Robin Thicke, a cover of Christopher Cross’ 1980 hit “Ride Like the Wind” for the movie’s soundtrack, but they need $100,000 to get the two stars together for the shoot.
