Berry Gordy has been privately sticking up for Oprah Winfrey in Hollywood since she was snubbed by the Golden Globes.

Spies at a reception at the home of WME agent Robert Newman, who reps directors Baz Luhrmann and Robert Rodriguez, said the Motown mogul was overheard referring to “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” as “my movie,” and telling others to support it.

Winfrey was overlooked by the Globes as best supporting actress for Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong’o, Julia Roberts, June Squibb and Sally Hawkins.

Her boosters hope the Ben Affleck factor will work as it did for him a year ago: That a diss from one awards body can make her an underdog favorite in another.
