Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie welcome a baby boy

LOS ANGELES — Hilary Duff and her husband Mike Comrie have welcomed their first child, a boy, the singer and actress announced Thursday.

Duff, 24, gave birth Tuesday night, and the couple named their son Luca Cruz.

“Tuesday evening, we became proud parents of a healthy 7 pound 6 ounce beautiful boy,” the former “Lizzie McGuire” star tweeted to fans Thursday.

“We are overjoyed and feel like the luckiest parents in the world. He is surrounded by so much love!! Mom and baby are both doing extremely well,” she added.

Comrie, a former NHL player, and Duff were married in August 2010, and the pair announced on their first wedding anniversary that Duff was expecting a baby.

Comrie, 31, announced in February that he was retiring from professional hockey after undergoing multiple surgeries for a hip injury.
