So much to tell you that I, myself, can’t wait to hear what I have to say:

Besides hungry types thumping for police commish, others in quiet contention include:

Ronald Kenneth Noble. Interpol Sec’y General. NYU law school prof. Developed global anti-terrorist police screening system.

David Kelley, former deputy US Attorney for NY’s Southern District. And a NY law school grad.

James E. Johnson. African-American partner in law firm Debevoise & Plimpton.

Oversaw Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Bureau operations.

Was on Obama’s transition team.

Coppers favor these and these favor the job. Ask not how I know. I know.

Boys shoot movie in Jersey

Clint Eastwood, directing Warners’ 2014 movie, the stage-to-screen Tony-winning musical “Jersey Boys.” He’s shooting at Frankie Valli’s childhood home in Jersey. Frankie’s there. So’s the cast — Christopher Walken, John Lloyd Young, who plays Frankie, and “Boardwalk Empire’s” Vincent Piazza. Run over there. Maybe they’ll hum.

Clapton dissected in book

Coming is an untitled Russell Schlagbaum and Barbara Jacobs vivisection on Eric Clapton. Alcoholic. Chapter “The Day God Got Punched in the Face” includes:

Early ’70s. His house Hurtwood Edge in Surrey. Russell’s “at the local pub with Eric being loudly obnoxious. Patrons were angry at his drunken mouthing off. Stumbling, unable to drive home, he insisted and insulted some patron exiting the pub. Walking away, Russell saw the guy reach through Eric’s driver-side window and punch him in the face. Clapton, bleeding profusely from his nose, slumped down. Russell drove them home and put him to bed.”

The Rock-Guitar king of the world’s bio will be a sweet read.

There’s hope for whomever moves in here

Bob Hope’s California mansion — 225,000 square feet — for sale for large millions? I’ve been in it. Stone cantilevered roof. Iron gate. Winding road. Dining room, armory-size. Vietnamese houseman Tuan, formerly Gen. Westmoreland’s helicopter pilot, and three in help served us chicken, potatoes, salad, string beans on silver trays. The centerpiece? A cluster of bejeweled Buddhist temples from the king of Thailand.

Forget how many the billiard room stands. It seated 21. One doorless closet was huge enough for 70 pairs of cotton plaid golf pants. Ten johns. Earth tones living room, terra cotta tile floor. Subdued lighting. Oversize couch. Pillows plumped to their plumpest.

Dolores’ suite — puffy quilts, pillows and sitting room. Next door, his bedroom, dressing room, office. Flowers, plants, teddy bears, stuffed animals everywhere. Photos of Nixon, Groucho, Eisenhower, Bing, Reagan everywhere else. And underfoot, dogs Lillian, Buffy and Buster.

May a new owner enjoy.

Odds & ends

Hillary’s body’s looking thinner and hair looking better . . . “A Time To Kill” actors — Seattle’s Tom Skerritt, Tennessee’s Sen. Fred Thompson, etc. — were asked, before hiring: “Do you want to live in New York?” . . . Mayoral campaign centerpiece to raise taxes must be OK’d by the gov who’s against it. The Republican state senate will kill the idea, thus saving Cuomo from taking on the first Democratic mayor in 20 years.

Reader Ray Deil: “A downtown Grand Street building’s front entrance says, ‘Do not enter if door is locked.’ ”

Only in New York, kids, only in New York.
