Nile Rodgers, former guitarist of Chic, is turning his sights to Broadway. The funk legend and producer, who has worked with David Bowie, Madonna, Diana Ross, Duran Duran and Daft Punk, is looking to take his life story, based on his book “Le Freak: An Upside Down Story of Family, Disco, and Destiny,” to the stage. “I didn’t write the book thinking about holding anything back,” Rodgers told us at Peter Gabriel’s Focus for Change event at Roseland Thursday. “Writing a show is completely different, because the show is not just to tell the history; it’s also to entertain . . . The good thing is, because it’s the story of my life and I know my life, I can figure out which chunk I want to talk about and which is the most entertaining that would feel didactic without being boring — without sucking.” Rodgers, a cancer survivor, has also worked with playwright John Walch on the musical “Double Time,” about Leonard Harper, the first African-American Broadway star.
