Graydon Carter at your service

Vanity Fair chief Graydon Carter has options if he decides on a career change. He was seen waiting on a table Wednesday at his new Beatrice Inn as part of an auction item for the CFDA and Vogue “Fashion for Sandy Relief” initiative, which raised $1.7 million. We’re told Carter served socialite Pippa Cohen, Michael Dupont, Todd Welsh and Marci Freedman. “He didn’t wear an apron, but he did memorize and tell them the specials and pour their wine,” says a spy. “He made sure they were happy. People were looking at him like ‘What’s going on?’ He had some help, but I’m sure he could get into it if his day job doesn’t work out.”
