Paying taxes apparently isn’t in vogue. Shelby Bryan, the longtime beau of Vogue editor Anna Wintour, owes the US government $1.2 million in back taxes, according to The Daily Telegraph of London. Bryan, 66, a former banker, said he fell into straits with Uncle Sam after “unraveling’’ a stock arrangement that left him owing a huge sum at once. He said he’s now on a payment plan and has been handing over his dough to the government in increments “on schedule.’’ Vogue has no comment on the report. Bryan reportedly had a fortune topping $30 million at one point, but took a hefty loss amid the economic crisis and has since been pretty much just hanging out at Wintour’s posh pad in Manhattan. The paper suggested that Bryan’s whopping tax bill could create a huge headache for Wintour, who is said to be on President Obama’s short list to become the next ambassador to the United Kingdom.
