Rick Ross was inside a Rolls Royce that slammed into an apartment building off Los Olas Blvd. following an alleged drive-by shooting in Ft. Lauderdale early this morning, according to multiple reports.
Ft. Lauderdale police have confirmed reports that William Roberts (Ross’ real name) was a passenger in the Rolls Royce. No one was reported injured.
Authorities say the vehicle was heading east on Las Olas Blvd. at approximately 5 a.m. when another car approached and shot “dozens” of times.
According to CBSMiami, police say bullets riddled the side of the car and passenger side of the windshield. To escape the gunfire, the driver sped into the residential apartment building.
According to WSVN, witnesses said Ross had been celebrating his birthday at the nearby Floridian restaurant earlier in the evening.
The restaurant was also struck in the hail of gunfire, reports the Miami Herald. Witnesses there said they heard about 15 shots.
Law enforcement officials are looking for the perpetrator or perpetrators.
