Tara Subkoff created an opera out of a phone book at the VERA launch party at the Ambassadors River View at the UN the other night. Subkoff designed a size-18 gown for opera singer Eve Gigliotti made out of phone books. The singer performed an opera about a sky-high phone bill written by Subkoff to kick off the event. The performance ended with Gigliotti’s “death” in front of hosts Fabiola Beracasa, Hannah Bronfman, Jennifer Creel, Jennifer Gilbert, Kelly Rutherford, Julie Macklowe, Susan Shin, Tennessee Thomas and Arden Wohl and emcee Mary Alice Stephenson. VERA is an app that repurposes unused wireless usage toward philanthropic causes.
