WATCH: Mindy McCready – I did not kill my boyfriend

Mindy McCready has opened up for the first time since the tragic loss of her “soul mate” David Wilson.

Wilson was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound earlier this month. No charges have been filed and an investigation is still ongoing.

Rumors swirled around the circumstances of his death and whether the troubled country singer played a role.

“Oh my god, no. Oh my god, no,” an emotional McCready said in an upcoming “Dateline” interview when she was asked flat-out whether she shot him. “He was my life. We were each other’s life.”

Today” aired the segment with McCready this morning. When she was asked if she knew “100 percent” that Wilson killed himself or if he might have been murdered, she replied, “I don’t know.”

McCready also denied rumors that Wilson, father to her 9-month-old son, Zayne, was seeing someone else. “David was not having an affair with another woman. That is absolutely totally untrue.”

Paying tribute to Wilson, she said, “He didn’t just touch my heart, he touched my soul. He was my soul mate.”

“I’ve never gone through anything this painful,” she added, “nor will I ever again go through anything as painful.” The once-promising star has dealt with drug addiction and jail time, plus a bitter custody battle over her son with Billy McKnight.

According to E! News, the country artist did not attend a Jan. 19 memorial for Wilson in Fayetteville, Ark.
