Shirley Temple Twitter a fake, says rep

Last week, news of Shirley Temple joining Twitter got everyone (including us) super excited.

Well, turns out it’s completely bogus, a rep from Legend Films tells Page Six.

“This Twitter account that supposedly belonged to Shirley Temple was never real,” said the rep. “Someone’s Twitter was hacked where the hacker was posing as Shirley. This account has since been shut down.”

Several outlets had reported last week that the beloved child star who is now 84-years-old was tweeting under the handle @TempleShirleyJ and quickly picked up more than 7,000 followers.

Whoever joined Twitter under Temple’s name was even tweeting with screen legend Dick Van Dyke, writing: “@iammrvandy nice to see a few of us on twitter – i took a second and listened to your new barbershop quartet – brought a smile to my face.”

Van Dyke replied, “@TempleShirleyJ Thank you!! I always envied you dancing with Bojangles!!”

Model Coco Rocha even asked her about fellow child star Honey Boo Boo, “Temple” replied, “I have been asked what i think of “honey boo, can someone tell me who that is~”
