Rick Ross hires 24-hour security after drive-by shooting: report

Rick Ross has reportedly hired armed personal bodyguards to protect him at all hours after narrowly escaping a drive-by shooting.

The rapper allegedly had armed security for concerts and public appearances, but following the shooting, he decided to have armed bodyguards around the clock, TMZ reports.

Sources told the gossip site that Ross had been receiving threats prior to the shooting but wasn’t too concerned. But he now allegedly considers the shooting an “eye-opener” and is hiring the extra security to prevent future attempts.

Ross crashed his Rolls-Royce into an apartment building in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Sunday after he lost control while trying to avoid gunfire aimed at the car, police said.

Bullets riddled the side of the car and left holes in the tires, bumper and lights. Luckily neither of the car’s occupants were hurt. The shooting suspects fled before police arrived.

Ross has yet to comment on the incident but his friend and fellow MC Pusha T told MTV News that he spoke to the hip-hop star following the shooting.

“I don’t wanna hear about that with anybody. I definitely like hit him up like, ‘Yo just let me know you’re okay.’ We have the same mix engineer and I ended up speaking to him later on that day and he was like, ‘Yeah, he’s just laying back,'” he said.
