Rihanna has finally admitted that she has reunited with her controversial lover Chris Brown.

The “Diamonds” singer tells Rolling Stone that dating Brown makes her happy and “if it’s a mistake, it’s my mistake.”

“I decided it was more important for me to be happy,” she says in the new issue of the magazine out Friday. “I wasn’t going to let anybody’s opinion get in the way of that. Even if it’s a mistake, it’s my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I’d rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it.”

The public reconciliation comes four years after the R&B singer attacked his then-girlfriend and sent her to the hospital the night before the 2009 Grammy Awards. Brown pleaded guilty to assault and performed community service, but he remains on probation.

Rumors about their relationship emerged after the singers collaborated on four songs and appeared in multiple photos together (including many shots on their Instagram accounts).

“When you add up the pieces from the outside, it’s not the cutest puzzle in the world,” Rihanna says. “You see us walking somewhere, driving somewhere, in the studio, in the club, and you think you know.”

She says the two have matured and they “know exactly what we have now, and we don’t want to lose that.”

Rihanna says that that Brown is “disgusted” by what he did in the past. She adds that it would be a deal-breaker if he displayed any indication of his past behavior towards her.

“He doesn’t have the luxury of f—ing up again,” she says. “That’s just not an option. I can’t say that nothing else will ever go wrong. But I’m pretty solid in the knowing that he’s disgusted by that. And I wouldn’t have gone this far if I ever thought that was a possibility.”
