Petraeus scandal twins eyed Steinbrenner bros

Before they were caught up in the David Petraeus cheating scandal, Jill Kelley and her twin sister Natalie Khawam were determined to snag themselves rich suitors — including one from the Steinbrenner family. “They made up their minds they were going to use men to get money, and they discussed this quite openly in front of the family,” claims Tony Khawam, a distant cousin of the Lebanese siblings, in writer Vicky Ward’s profile of the pair in Town & Country. Insiders in the socialite twins’ stomping ground of Tampa, Fla., dish how their lavish parties were a way to bond with well-heeled locals. According to Tony, Jill and Natalie were interested in Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner and his brother, Hank. “They’d take trips on the Steinbrenners’ plane and brag about how they would split Hal up from his then-wife, Christina [Lavery], and then the plane would be theirs,” the cousin says, even claiming to have warned the Steinbrenner security team about the girls. (Hal split with his first wife Christina in 2007, and married current wife Christina DiTullio two years later.) Locals also weigh in on the twins’ antics entertaining top military brass like Petraeus. “This town has become too porous,” says one. “Tampa needs to be more careful about vetting people. It cannot go on like before.”
