Alexander Payne’s “Nebraska” is building buzz before its fall release. But the director couldn’t quite get his movie all the way to Greece for a surprise screening. Payne planned to bring the movie to the teeny Patmos Film Festival, but when he couldn’t wrangle a print, he arrived instead with a DVD of his 2004 Oscar film “Sideways.” “He went from a standing ovation in Cannes for ‘Nebraska’ to a DVD on a sheet in a town square,” joked a spy. Laura Dern, whose dad, Bruce, stars in the drama with Will Forte, will host a screening Tuesday, we hear. Guests including Susan Sarandon got a peek in New York this week, followed by a VIP lunch at Barbetta. Dern’s tipped as a potential Best Actor nominee.
