The opening night of Harold Pinter’s “No Man’s Land” — starring Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Billy Crudup and Shuler Hensley at the Berkeley Repertory Theater — was such a hit that a man who collapsed during the show refused to go to the hospital so he could see the finale. We’re told a patron in his 80s passed out, with 30 minutes left in the second act. An emergency crew helped him into the lobby and treated him, but he signed a waiver refusing to go to the hospital. Show organizers even offered the fellow tickets to another performance if he went to the ER, but he didn’t want to leave, and instead watched the rest of the show on the video monitor before they took him to the hospital.
