Lorne Michaels entertains Jack in Hamptons as ‘SNL’ boss is ‘knee-deep in reinventing’ long running skit comedy following mass exodus

Jack Nicholson is kicking back in East Hampton as a guest of Lorne Michaels while the “Saturday Night Live” guru’s in Manhattan casting talent for his show’s 39th season. “Jack’s at Lorne’s house while the ‘king of NBC’ is knee-deep in reinventing his show,” said a TV insider. “He’s holding auditions to find new talent to make into superstars.” “SNL” suffered the recent mass exodus of Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader, Fred Armisen and Seth Meyers, after Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg left last year. We hear Nicholson arrived in East Hampton with Michaels and Anjelica Huston (who’s staying at the home of her close friends Jimmy and Jane Buffett). The iconoclastic “Chinatown” star was seen at a bash thrown for Clive Davis by Larry Gagosian on Saturday, where, spies told Page Six, he was smoking a suspicious-looking cigarette and asking young female guests to join him. “He seemed drunk and sweaty,” sniffed one Hamptons social. But a friend of the actor’s explained it was “an electronic cigarette,” and added “Jack doesn’t drink.”
