Did Jason ‘Gummi Bear’ Davis get push off the wagon?

Friends and family of Jason “Gummi Bear” Davis claim producers of Dr. Drew Pinsky‘s “Celebrity Rehab” didn’t work hard enough to prevent the oil heir from falling off the wagon.

Davis’ rep Brian Quintana says the former heroin addict was given cash by producers, which he spent on drugs, and was also sent bottles of wine right before he got treatment from Dr. Drew.

Jason, the grandson of billionaire Marvin Davis, who once owned 20th Century Fox and the Beverly Hills Hotel, has just completed his “Celebrity Rehab” and is now clean and living in a sober house.

Quintana told us: “The producers’ only concern was getting good TV. Just before he went into the ‘Celebrity Rehab’ on June 3 the producers gave him $200, which they claimed was for a phone, and drove him to his dealer. Then they asked him on camera: ‘Why did you do drugs?’ Well why do you think he did? Then on the same night he went for dinner at Mr. Chow and somebody sent him a bottle of wine, then another one arrived. The producers later asked him why he was drinking.

“He left rehab in Utah 30 days early to do the show. When he arrived in Los Angeles in time for filming, the producers told him, ‘We’ve got a casting issue, so filming is delayed for 30 days.’ He had nowhere to live and ended up in a seedy motel, mixing with bad people, and was then taken to Cedars-Sinai with an infection where he had been shooting up. He nearly died.”

But, he added: “Jason is doing a lot better now. He is in a sober house in Malibu.”

Davis and his co-stars, including Tiger Woods’ alpha-mistress Rachel Uchitel, ex-model Janice Dickinson, “Party of Five” actor Jeremy London and “The Hills” star Jason Wahler, were all paid $30,000 to take part. The show screens on VH1 later this year. Reps for Dr. Drew didn’t comment.

A VH1 spokesman said: “Jason Davis was never encouraged to fall off the wagon. In fact, he was encouraged to stay in the Utah facility for the entire recommended time. It was only after we were informed that he checked himself out of that facility did we find a spot for him on the show.”
