Flamboyant Upper East Side restaurateur Nello Balan was engaged over the holidays to his girlfriend Jasmine Oh.
In a move that may disappoint some Upper East Side sociable ladies, we are told that Nello proposed to Jasmine, the owner of Mulberry Street boutique Qlosette, on Christmas Eve at the Hôtel Le Bristol in Paris. He popped the question at the hotel’s triple Michelin-starred Epicure restaurant, run by renowned chef Eric Frechon.
We are told that Nello presented Jasmine with an elaborate diamond from Leviev, which has a store next to his Madison Avenue restaurant. Jasmine is a good friend of Vera Wang, so we can only imagine how spectacular her wedding gown might be.
