‘Power Breakfast’ returning to Loews Regency Hotel

Power players will be flocking back to the Loews Regency the morning of Jan. 16, when the hotel reopens its famous “Power Breakfast” after a 54-week absence.

The Regency’s been home to the power meal since the 1970s, when bigwigs including Bob and Larry Tisch began the tradition.

Loews chairman Jonathan Tisch admitted VIPs “scattered” to other breakfast spots while the hotel underwent a $100 million renovation, but said that advance reservations reflect that most will be back next month.

The breakfast has regularly attracted machers such as Bill Bratton, Eliot Spitzer, Richard Grasso, Joe Lhota and Andrew Cuomo.

“We’ll preserve the institution of the power breakfast in its new home,” Tisch promised of the redone spot, which has added Sant Ambroeus as its manager and the Standard Grill’s Dan Silverman as chef, while keeping Leigh Wynn as major-domo of the room that’s been overhauled by Meyer Davis Studio.

There will also be a new full bar to “belly-up to,” Tisch said, as well as a lobby lounge and a Sant Ambroeus coffee bar.
