Tearful Rihanna to Oprah: Chris Brown needs help

An emotional Rihanna opened up in an interview with Oprah Winfrey about the violent assault she endured at the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

The singer described how she felt after the incident, the night before the 2009 Grammy Awards, and how she “lost her best friend” even after he left her bruised and bloody.

“It was a weird, confusing space to be in … because as angry as I was, as angry and hurt and betrayed, I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help … and who’s going to help him?”

Tears pouring down her face, Rihanna continued about why she feels the need to protect him: “Nobody’s going to say he needs help. Everybody’s going to say he’s a monster without looking at the source … and I was more concerned about him.”

Rihanna and the R&B singer got into a heated argument while driving home from a pre-Grammy party. According to police reports, the argument escalated into a violent attack. Brown was arrested for assault, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years probation.

Brown was ordered to stay away from the singer, but the restraining order has since been lifted.

Page Six reported Rihanna and Brown have been seen partying together at the same haunts in New York and the South of France this summer.

And bosses of Manhattan club Greenhouse are suing Brown and Drake for $16 million after entourages for the two stars allegedly got int o a brawl on June 14 at their downstairs venue W.i.P.
