Following Mitt Romney’s lucrative fund-raising visit to the Hamptons, where he raked in more than $3 million in a few hours, President Obama’s campaign is now planning to sweep the East End and its big spenders. While Obama himself hasn’t visited the East End, Vice President Joe Biden is a regular visitor. We’re told Ellen Chesler and Matthew Mallow will host an event for Biden at their Bridgehampton estate Aug. 24. We’re also told James Taylor will provide the entertainment, and plans are afoot for a high-price-ticket dinner party to follow. A source snickers, “Obama has never come to the Hamptons. He feels it is too elite — but George Clooney’s house [the scene of a May fund-raiser] isn’t?”
