Sage Stallone’s Los Angeles apartment was strewn with more than 50 bottles of powerful prescription painkillers that could hold up to 30,000 pills — but most of the bottles were mysteriously empty, according to sources close to the investigation.
Numerous bags of white powder were also found in the apartment, Page Six can exclusively reveal.
Police found Stallone, son of “Rocky” star Sylvester, dead at age 36 in his Studio City, Calif., apartment Friday, and toxicology tests from an autopsy are pending.
More than 50 large bottles at the scene were for hydrocodone, the generic form of Vicodin, each with the capacity to hold 500 pills.
“These were the kind of bottles a pharmacy gets,” said a source close to the case.
“They don’t know how he had so many bottles of it. They were various strengths of hydrocodone,” the source continued. “The strange thing is that, for the most part, the bottles were empty.”
Investigators also found “a significant number of packets of white powder all over the bedroom,” the source said.
“They were strewn all over the house. A lot of the stuff was in the bedroom. This isn’t the kind of amount of pills you would find in anyone’s home. The coroner does not do criminal investigations, and passes on their findings to the authorities. But you could assume this would result in an investigation into how he obtained it.”
The source said the “labels were removed” on about 40 of the bottles, but, “There was residue from the labels which was also being tested.” Stallone’s camp declined to comment on the pills.
The Chicago Tribune reported yesterday that the LAPD’s robbery-homicide division was getting involved in the investigation of Sage’s death, but officials stressed there were no signs of foul play.
