Woody in ‘92: Mia said she would take my daughter

Woody Allen previously defended himself against molestation claims – saying in a revealing 1992 interview that Mia Farrow had plotted to destroy him, warning him, “I have something very nasty planned for you.”

While Allen is yet to make a statement about the renewed allegations that he molested his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow in 1992, when she was seven, but that year he strongly denied the allegations in an interview with Steve Croft.

During the “60 Minutes” interview, Allen told Kroft, “Several weeks before it happened, Mia called me on the phone and said, in the course of an argumentative phone call, she said, ‘I have something very nasty planned for you.’ And I said, ‘What are you going to do? Shoot me?’”

The director said Mia also told him, “You took my daughter, and I’m gonna take yours,” referring to Allen’s relationship with Soon-Yi Previn, Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter with Andre Previn.

In the revealing interview, the usually reclusive Allen complained, “A gigantic industry has been built on a total non-event, and when I say total non-event, I mean a total non-event. It wasn’t, it wasn’t as if, you know, I tickled my daughter or something and much has been exaggerated. I’m saying nothing at all. I went up and played with the kids, read them stories..had a wonderful time with them. Out of this has grown lawyers, and psychologists, and district attorneys and private investigators, I am saying it is a multi-million dollar industry that has sprouted up from a total non-event.”

Allen said it was no coincidence that the allegations emerged during the middle of his bitter feud with Mia Farrow. “I am 57, Isn’t it illogical that I’m going to, at the height of a very bitter, acrimonious custody fight, drive up to Connecticut where nobody likes me, I’m in a house full of enemies. I mean, Mia was so enraged at me and she had gotten all the kids to be angry at me, that I’m going to drive up there, and suddenly on visitation, pick this moment in my life to become a child molester?

“It’s just, it’s just incredible,” he said. “If I wanted to be a child molester, I had many opportunities in the past. I could have quietly made a custody settlement with Mia in some way and done it in the future. I mean, you know, it’s so insane.”

“Either she has been coached methodically to tell the story, by Mia, yes. Because first of all several weeks before it happened Mia called me on the phone and said, in the course of an argumentative phone call, she said, ‘I have something very nasty planned for you.’ And I said, ‘What are you going to do? Shoot me?’”

“On many occasions Mia said to me ‘You took my daughter and I am going to take yours.’ She meant that I had formed a relationship with her 21 year old daughter [Soon Yi] and she was going to take my daughter Dylan as revenge.”

After Mia Farrow found out about his affair with Soon-Yi, “What happened was crazy behavior, that became, terrible rage, death threats. If this is not irrational to you. She accused me of child molestation on August 4th, right, that I molested my daughter, then August 5th, 6th, 7th..the week after, she’s fully saying, ‘When do we begin doing our new movie?’

“And I said are you kidding, you accused me of child molestation and you think we are going to go ahead with the movie? I called my lawyer to terminate the contract and I went out and hired another actress for the movie.

“I started getting phone calls all nights and death threats and people calling me the devil incarnate…she threatened my life many times, she threatened to have me killed, and to kill me and to stick my eyes out.”

Allen added, “There is no possibility that anything remotely ever happened to Dylan, that I did anything to Dylan…Soon Yi thinks that it is absolutely in character that she [Mia] has made it up, quite calculatedly.”
