Jackie Collins’ ‘Confessions of a Wild Child’ to be become movie

Feeling Lucky — as in Lucky Santangelo? That’s the name of the pulchritudinous protagonist of no less than seven of Jackie Collins’ 31 novels.

The latest, “Confessions of a Wild Child,” is a back story focusing on Lucky’s teenage years dealing with boys, drugs and adventures everywhere from Greek islands to Vegas penthouses.

Amber Entertainment — which produced the “Romeo & Juliet” movie starring Hailee Steinfeld and Damian Lewis — optioned the movie rights and has Jackie adapting her book into a screenplay.

In a few weeks, the producers will launch a nationwide search for the perfect girl to play Lucky by asking teens to send in their homemade screen tests.

“We expect thousands of girls will be trying for the part,” Jackie told me.

The author was still basking in the glory of her December meeting with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, where Her Royal Majesty named her to the Order of the British Empire.

Collins laughed, “I said to the Queen, ‘Not bad for a school drop-out.’ ”

At the age of 15, the younger sister of Joan Collins was expelled from Francis Holland School for girls in London and celebrated by throwing her uniform into the Thames River.
