Renee’s b-day: Twice is nice

Renee Zellweger celebrated her birthday in town this week with a series of intimate dinners, while her hunky ex, Bradley Cooper, reenacted “The Hangover” with a posse of Hollywood power players in Mexico, sources said.

Stars including Orlando Bloom and Julia Roberts have been hitting high-profile parties all week for the Tribeca Film Festival. But a low-key surprise birthday bash for Zellweger on Saturday proved the toughest ticket.

Rather than stage a blowout, Zellweger’s assistant arranged a party for just 15 guests at the actress’ Manhattan apartment. Those who made the cut to toast her 42nd birthday included Harvey Weinstein, CAA’s Bryan Lourd and Zellweger’s longtime manager, John Carrabino.

The party was kept strictly confidential. “Sorry, can’t help you,” Zellweger’s rep said when we asked about it. But a source described it as a “very grown-up” affair.

Zellweger kicked up her heels again on Monday with a more public bash at Indochine. She was seated next to hotelier Andre Balasz, who was being “very attentive,” according to a spy. But a source close to Balasz — most recently linked to Chelsea Handler — said, “He and Renée are just good friends. They have known each other for a long time.”

Also at Indochine were Lourd and “Hangover” star Zach Galifianakis. “She looked shy but happy,” a spy added.

Meanwhile, Zellweger’s ex-flame Cooper — with whom she parted ways in March after two years — partied with pals in Los Cabos, Mexico.

The “Limitless” star was spotted kicking it with Relativity Media’s Ryan Kavanaugh at exclusive beach club Villas Del Mar over the Easter weekend. The duo threw a bash in Villa 322, sources said, and invited Leonardo DiCaprio and friends to drop by. (No “Hangover”-like incidents of live tigers, lost babies or Mike Tyson sightings were reported by hotel guests.)
