Five months after Don Hill died and his eponymous nightclub closed, two Don Hill’s promoters are working on a screenplay inspired by the SoHo rock club. Lyle Derek and Noah Valentyn have penned “Dropout” after the name of their Sunday-night party. “ ‘Dropout’ is a hilarious story of two inexperienced party promoters who attempt to save a dying club from the clutches of an evil corporate club queen who is the competition at another venue across the street,” Derek told us. One of the characters is inspired by Debbie Harry. Derek and Valentyn will give a reading of the script at the Ars Nova Theater in Midtown during Fashion Week.
