TAYLOR Swift looked visibly heartbroken as she left One Direction’s Harry Styles following their split during what was supposed to be a romantic break in the British Virgin Islands, witnesses exclusively tell Page Six.
Mike Zavagno and Jake Hurley spotted Swift looking somber as she was leaving U.S. Customs on Saturday, January 4, heading for the St. Thomas airport. “She looked really sad and lonely, really down,” Zavagno tells Page Six.
Hurley continues, “We had heard she was down there with Harry Styles from One Direction, but the impression that I got was that they must have had a fight or something because she was just with her bodyguard and I said to Mike, ‘She looks really sad.’”
“I don’t think she was crying,” he says, “but you could tell that something was visibly wrong. … She was just sitting there with her hands in her lap, no phone or anything.”
When Swift heard nearby boaters yelling her name, “She kind of waved, but didn’t really get into it,” Hurley says. “It was really halfhearted. We saw her for at least 4 to 5 minutes and it was really obvious something was really wrong.”
While Swift looked miserable, Styles, meanwhile, looked happy as he partied all night at Richard Branson’s nearby Necker Island. And his carefree single behavior only continued on his own trip out of the Caribbean two days after Swift departed.
On Sunday, January 6, Styles caught connecting flight out of Puerto Rico to JFK. But before his late-night flight to London, he had a three and a half hour layover, which he spent mingling with pretty female fans.
“He seemed really happy to see the girls waiting for him,” an eyewitness tells Page Six. As Styles doled out hugs and posed for grinning pics, “It definitely didn’t look like there was anything wrong.”
After one of the girls recommended a nearby Italian spot, Don Peppe’s, Styles and his gaggle of girls headed out for a bite. As Styles noshed on shrimp linguini, veal parmesan and baked clams, “He was very low-key and a total gentleman taking pictures with all of the fans,” Michael deLuca, owner of the restaurant tells Page Six. Restaurant guest Cathy Sapienza tells Page Six, “He kissed my daughter on the cheek and he kissed my once on each cheek and once on my hand. My daughter told me he likes older women but I’ve been married for 21 years and I’m 44 years old!”
Hours later at Heathrow, still more ladies lay in wait for the boy bander.
And while he has yet to publicly comment on his current romantic state, Swift tweeted “…’til you put me down,” a lyric from the song “Trouble,” which some fans believe is about Styles.
