Patti Davis rips ‘1600 Penn’ ‘stupidity’

“1600 Penn” – NBC’s new sitcom about a dysfunctional First Family – gets a thumbs-down from Patti Davis, who was there for eight years when her father Ronald Reagan was president.

Davis — who tried to sell a similar TV show last year titled “Ribbon,” her Secret Service code name – posted on Facebook today: “This industry doesn’t want authenticity, they want stupidity.”

The 60-year-old writer said her show was “about a reluctant and rebellious First Daughter who then finds herself pregnant out of wedlock. While the pregnancy part didn’t happen to me, the show was based on my experience and knowledge of actually being a First Daughter.”

“And oh, what a surprise, the First Daughter in the show is pregnant!” David continued. “I hope next time a project of mine is rejected I can be more gracious, but this time I can’t be.”
