New mockumentary series wants Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock — out of this world with the success of “Gravity” — would probably not be interested in starring in a low-budget exploitation film called “The Godmother.”

But that’s the premise behind “Ivy League Crimelords,” a mockumentary Web series starring Jon Friedman, Michael Della Femina and Michael Mailer, who dated Bullock before she made “Speed.” In the show, Mailer and his cohorts pull all sorts of shenanigans trying to get their script to Bullock.

“The chances of her being in this are about as likely as the pope allowing priests to marry,” laughed Mailer, who has produced 20 movies, including the Cannes documentary “Seduced & Abandoned.”

Not that it matters to the very “meta” project (which Mailer also describes as “wonderfully moronic”), combining allusions to the kabbalah, the golem and the Cosa Nostra.

Directors James Toback and Abel Ferrara play themselves on the Web show, while South African-born nightlife impresario Rocco Ancarola, who played a maître d’ in “Wall Street,” portrays a gangster.

Della Femina says “Ivy League Crime Lords” is a cross between “GoodFellas” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

Mailer — who has had a couple bit parts but harbors no ambitions as an actor — told me, “I have nothing to lose by over-acting, so it’s probably the best acting I’ve ever done.”
