Fox anchor uncovers spy connection between bar, book

Fox & Friends anchor Brian Kilmeade — who with Don Yaeger has written a book on the secrets of George Washington’s spy ring — uncovered a link between his subject and the owner of the Milleridge Inn on Long Island.

Kilmeade, an LI native, was searching for a spot to host a party thanking friends and family for supporting his tome, “George Washington’s Secret Six: The Spy Ring that Saved the American Revolution,” and a pal suggested the Milleridge. When Kilmeade spoke with inn co-owner Bernadette Smith, she informed him of a coincidental connection: Smith is the daughter of William Casey, the former CIA director under Ronald Reagan.

Casey, who also grew up on Long Island, was writing his own book on Washington’s spy ring but died in 1987 before he could finish it. Smith even recently gave her father’s unfinished 250-page manuscript to Kilmeade to read.

“What are the odds?” the anchor told us.

On Monday, Kilmeade will also celebrate at Del Frisco’s with guests including Bill O’Reilly and other Fox friends.
