Miley tweets surprisingly tame post-shower selfie

It says something about Miley Cyrus’ 2013 that she could post a post-shower selfie that could easily be viewed as tame in comparison to countless other pictures she took this year.

The 21-year-old pop star shared the photo with her 16 million Twitter followers on Thursday evening.

While, the picture would’ve been risqué by most starlet’s standards, it was downright conservative by Cyrus’.

This is a year, after all, in which the singer performed in a flesh-colored outfit at the MTV VMAs, appeared naked in the Terry Richardson-directed video for “Wrecking Ball” and posed for a topless Christmas greeting.

One thing the photo had in common with much of Cyrus’ 2013, was that the singer’s tongue was prominently displayed, a move that has become the former “Hannah Montana” star’s trademark.

Believe it or not, that pose isn’t meant to draw more attention to Cyrus, instead it’s supposed to help her feel less self conscious.

“I get embarrassed to take pictures. That’s actually the truth,” she revealed during her “The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013” interview with Barbara Walters earlier this month. “I’m so embarrassed, because people are taking pictures of me, and I just don’t know how to—I don’t know how to smile, and just be awkward, so I stick my tongue out, because I don’t know what else to do.”
