Matthew McConaughey accepts Gotham Award by phone

Matthew McConaughey couldn’t make it to the Gotham Awards on Monday, but accepted a Best Actor award for “Dallas Buyers Club” by phone until the call was dropped.

Jared Leto, accepting for his co-star with the explanation,“He’s got a [bleeping] job, so he can’t be here,” called McConaughey from the Cipriani Wall Street stage on speaker phone, but ran into reception problems.

“He says, ‘All right, all right, all right,’ ” Leto told the crowd before reading a speech from the “Magic Mike” star.

Leto also got into a bizarre kerfuffle with the awards’ vodka sponsor.

Backstage, when he gamely posed in a photo booth with sexy Russian Standard vodka models, a furious flak for the brand wanted even more pics.

“Jared was so nice, but when he tried to leave, the guy threw a Russian hat prop at him. Security was called,” said a source. Perhaps he’d had too much of his own product?
