Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez is on the hunt for a new Manhattan apartment and looking at a series of high-end places — including a teammate’s old digs. Spies saw Alex this weekend on the Upper East Side, checking out Ichiro Suzuki’s former apartment at the Laurel on 67th Street. Suzuki recently moved out of the four-bedroom, 2,700-square-foot pad he rented on the 25th floor in the luxury high-rise. We hear the unit is available to rent or to buy. Rodriguez last April sold his 3,585-square-foot, five-bedroom, full-floor bachelor pad on the 35th floor of the Rushmore on Riverside Drive for $6.6 million (he sold his furniture in it, as well, for additional cash). He had paid $5.5 million for the apartment the year before. A source tells us, “Alex is in New York full time while he undergoes [injury] rehab. He has looked at a lot of apartments, and Suzuki’s former place is one of them.” Joe Girardi recently said Alex would not be joining the team for spring training in Tampa, and “will continue his rehab, under doctors orders, in New York.”
