Katie Holmes turns heads at Sheryl Sandberg talk

Heads quickly turned in the direction of Katie Holmes during the Sheryl Sandberg “Lean In” event at the Time Warner Center when Jane Rosenthal referred to a friend raising “the future a – – holes of tomorrow.” The star was sitting to the left of the Tribeca Film Festival co-founder when Rosenthal threw out this jesting comment to Sandberg: “Perhaps as part of your ‘Lean In’ circles, it becomes [about] parenting. I frequently tell one of my dearest friends who’s sitting over here to my left that she’s raising one of the future a – – holes of tomorrow with her sons.” On first glance it seemed that Holmes, who only has a daughter, Suri, was the friend in question. But Rosenthal was actually referring to her best friend, Patty Newburger, whom she’s known since she was 19 and has sons Rosenthal is close to. Sandberg, the author of the thought-provoking new book “Lean In,” had the audience including Lesley Stahl, David Lauren, Suze Orman, Gayle King and Ann Curry leaning on her words about women’s leadership, career advancement and challenges along the way during Time Warner’s Conversations on the Circle on Monday night led by Time deputy managing editor Nancy Gibbs. Among Sandberg’s key points was the likability difference between successful men and women, which she believes is holding back female workers. “As a man gets more successful and powerful, they are better liked by men and women. And as women get more successful and powerful, they are less liked by men and women,” she said.
