NYPD top cop Ray Kelly was a surprise guest at an honorary concert for his namesake, late Celtic rock folk singer Ray Kelly, Sunday night at Connolly’s Klub 45. The singing Kelly, who was the lead voice of Irish folk group the Mickey Finns, died Jan. 9 in a construction accident in Connecticut, where he worked as a carpenter. Commissioner Kelly said he had only met the musician once but was happy to show his support. On his way out, one attendee quipped to the commish, who’s been prodded to run for mayor, “I guess you have the Irish vote.” The event, which benefited the Jude Kelly Education Fund, was organized by Finns’ bandmate Brian Tracey and raised close to $10,000.
