Jackie O, one of the most elegant icons of the 20th century, must be resting uneasily over the tacky jewelry, watches and sunglasses being sold on QVC as The Jacqueline Kennedy Collection, writes The Post’s Richard Johnson. Daughter Caroline Kennedy isn’t happy that the name and likeness of her mother, who died in 1994, is being exploited. The new US ambassador to Japan insisted that the manufacturer, a Boonton, NJ, outfit called Camrose & Kloss, put a disclaimer on its Web site that neither the Kennedy family nor the John F. Kennedy Library has anything to do with the venture. But QVC viewers of The Jacqueline Kennedy Collection don’t see the disclaimer. “The set consists of photos of Jackie,” said one Jackie fan. “The whole spiel is about her great taste as first lady. If it isn’t authorized, it’s a ripoff. Sleazy.” QVC won’t release sales figures, but a spokeswoman said, “It’s one of our more popular programs.” Mrs. Kennedy wouldn’t have been caught dead in “gold tone” and rhinestone costume jewelry, but she probably would have liked her ratings.
