Barbra Streisand memoir a no-go

Barbra Streisand still isn’t ready to tell her life story, even though publishers have been begging and offering many millions of dollars for her autobiography.

Viking Press implored the 71-year-old diva — one of the few entertainers to win Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards — to pen her memoirs four years ago.

What the publishing house received instead was “My Passion for Design,” a 2010 coffee table book about her house in Malibu, for which Streisand is credited as both author and photographer.

“Viking has always been hot for her autobiography,” said one insider, “but Streisand was only concerned with doing the picture book. And, of course, she got her way.”

The best seller — including photos of the shopping mall in Streisand’s basement — is something of a cult classic and inspired an off-Broadway play, “Buyer & Cellar.”

That book’s success is just making Viking more desperate for her memoirs, especially if she’ll open up about her alleged lovers, a list that includes Kris Kristofferson, Warren Beatty, Don Johnson, Ryan O’Neal, Jon Peters, Liam Neeson, Andre Agassi and Bill Clinton.

Asked about the possibility of a Streisand memoir, her smart-aleck publicist Ken Sunshine told me, “What a great idea! I’ll mention it to her.”
