Robin Thicke and Paula Patton separate

Robin Thicke and his wife of nearly nine years, Paula Patton, have split amid swirling rumors about his cheating.

The couple, who married in 2005, announced they are separating, saying in a joint statement, “We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”

But the split comes after a series of flirtatious encounters between the 36-year-old “Blurred Lines” singer and other women in front of — and behind the back of — his 38-year-old actress wife.

Page Six first revealed how Thicke was photographed with his hand on blonde Lana Scolaro’s bottom after his wild performance with Miley Cyrus at the VMAs last August. Unfortunately for frisky Thicke, the photo was taken in front of a mirror, and showed his hand sneaking up the back of the 20-year-old’s short skirt.

Scolaro later told Life & Style that she had “hooked up” with Thicke while Patton “was just a few feet away.” She also claimed he told her Paula was “chill” about their flirtation and that, later, they all headed to a bash at a suite in the Greenwich Hotel, where, Scolaro said, “He turned off the lights so no one could see us, and he started making out with me. He was grabbing me. He was like, ‘I want to get you into bed!’ ”

Patton — who once revealed she hid in the bushes outside Thicke’s house when she suspected him of cheating before they wed in 2005 — didn’t pay much attention to the alleged indiscretion. She and Thicke were seen days later, frolicking on a Florida beach with their son, Julian, 3.

Then, in late January, Thicke was spotted flirting with a big-haired beauty inside Parisian nightspot Club 79. She was seen with her arms around him and whispering in his ear.

Other sources said their split was “coming for a long time,” even though both have gushed about their marriage. Patton said in an interview last September she and her husband were “best friends . . . Life is full of peaks and valleys. Robin has always been a great person to remind me to celebrate now.”
