Pop sensation Ariana Grande has had to cancel a string of appearances after suffering a vocal cord hemorrhage.

The singer, whose album “Yours Truly” won the race for No. 1 on the Billboard 200 by a sizeable margin  this week, has been struck down with the throat problem.

Doctors have told the 20-year-old singer must rest or risk damaging her voice permanently.

A source tells us, “Ariana had a show in LA on Monday night, then on Tuesday she woke up and felt unwell. She tried to sing with her vocal coach, who recommended she see a doctor. She has a vocal cord hemorrhage.

“She is devastated at this news, but she knows she will have to rest.”

Grande is the first female artist to debut at No. 1 with their first album since January 2010, when Ke$ha’s “Animal” opened at No. 1. She promoted her album heavily with over a dozen appearances last week. This week she had numerous other performances booked, but has been forced to cancel.

A rep for Grande declined to comment last night.
