Rep. Carolyn Maloney’s busy ‘day off’

Rep. Carolyn Maloney had one day off during the government shutdown as she worked in Washington, DC — and we hear she made the most of it. Maloney jetted back to New York for a 24-hour escapade last week during which she escorted House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi to the 24th Women’s Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, where Pelosi and the late Betty Ford were honored. The next morning, the perky pol hosted a book party at her Upper East Side home for DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The reception for 50 prominent New York women included activist Jill Lafer, ABT board president Sharon Patrick, Patricia Duff and Manhattan borough-president hopeful Gale Brewer.
