Table 8 ain’t gonna be around

Table 8, the restaurant at the shiny but troubled Cooper Square Hotel, is done after only being open for about seven months. “I have made the decision to separate myself and the Table 8 name from the hotel,” Table 8 chef and partner Govind Armstrong told The Post’s Andy Wang. Armstrong’s partner, Josh Woodward, was arrested in LA in October and questioned over the death of a fetus, although no charge was filed. But Armstrong said he ended a contract with the hotel that he’d signed “over five years ago, prior to the unforeseen economic downfall.” Other issues, including community board restrictions on the eatery’s outdoor space, made the situation “unsustainable.” Neighbors even hanged dirty underwear on a nearby clothesline to disgust patrons. Although it is still open for now, sources say that Scarpetta chef Scott Conant is eying the space and could be close to signing a deal with the hotel.
