Glorious night for Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino is in fine spirits now that his “Inglourious Basterds” has proved both a critical and commercial success. The director showed up at Avenue the other night with producing partner Lawrence Bender and former New York Times movie critic Elvis Mitchell, following the DVD release party for “Basterds” at the Waverly Inn, and spent the night talking and dancing with a pretty blonde. “He was drinking Red Bull and vodka and seemed really happy to be out,” we’re told. Harvey Weinstein, who produced the picture, showed up shortly after Tarantino left. “He wasn’t drinking and didn’t want any caffeine, either,” says a source. “He ended up sticking with water because, he said, he was looking after his health.” Also in the house were Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan and French actor Vincent Cassel.
