John Lennon’s last autograph up for sale

The last thing John Lennon wrote before being gunned down in front of his apartment

is on sale for $154,000. According to memorabilia Web site momentsintime.org, the Beatles legend borrowed a guitar string from another band while recording at the Record Plant Studio on West 44th Street on Dec. 7, 1980. The next day, Lennon gave an autograph to one of the sound technicians, writing “For Karl, who strung me along, thanx, John Lennon, 1980.” Lennon was fatally shot 15 minutes after leaving the studio.
