Country superstar Randy Travis was “out of it” and punched a wall in a Fox News Channel green room early yesterday. A source close to Travis told us, “He turned up, looking like he’d been up all night, for a sound check around 5 a.m., then punched a wall in the green room and makeup area.” Multiple Grammy-winning Travis pulled it together for a short interview on “Fox and Friends” with Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade and a performance. But at about 11 a.m., “He was supposed to tape an acoustic performance for ‘Good Day New York,’ but he was so out of it he couldn’t do it, and they had to stop taping.” Travis has said that drugs and alcohol fueled his life until his mid-20s when he “pretty much stopped just about everything — drinking, smoking, fighting and doing drugs. I had been reading the Bible for several years and knew in my heart I needed to accept Christ.” Reps for Travis didn’t respond to repeated calls and e-mails. Fox declined to comment.
