While attendees at the Winter Whites Gala at Kensington Palace knew to expect top class musical performances Tuesday night, it’s safe to say they didn’t expect to hear it coming from Prince William.

But that’s exactly what happened when the Duke of Cambridge joined Taylor Swift and Jon Bon Jovi for an accoustic rendition of the latter’s iconic hit, “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

The trio met over drinks at the reception, and when Bon Jovi invited the prince to join him on stage, Prince William insisted Swift join him.

The gala was to raise money for the Centrepoint, a charity that seeks to provide aid to the country’s homeless young people.  Singer James Blunt and British rapper Tinie Tempah also attended.

This isn’t the first time Prince William’s performed “Living on a Prayer” — he sang a karaoke version of it at his cousin Zara Tindall’s wedding reception.
