With Turness, NBC becoming more feminine

NBC News has become increasingly feminine since Deborah Turness was put in charge as president.

So many men have been replaced with women, that now eight out of 12 executives who report to Turness are female.

“People hire people who tend to agree with them,” Mel Feit, who has run the National Center For Men for 26 years, told me.

Men are also losing ground at the New York Times, where half of the 12 names on the masthead under executive editor Jill Abramson are women.

“Men are being pushed out of decision-making positions,” Feit said. “There’s a sexual caste system where women do the thinking, and men do the dirty, dangerous jobs.”

An NBC News spokeswoman said, “Leadership roles at NBC News are based on merit and qualifications, and we have a terrific management team of men and women.”

The spokeswoman denied that three top women executives who come into the control room at the “Today” show to give suggestions are referred to — behind their back, of course — as “The Witches of Eastwick.”
